Apparently The Police Were Called While 'Saw X' Was Being Edited

An installment to the Saw franchise is nothing if not artfully bloody and violent, and Saw X seems to be living up to the standard thus far! Saw X is set early on in the timeline, following the main antagonist, John Kramer, as he goes to Mexico in search of a cure. Things don’t go the way he hopes, and Kramer takes it upon himself to punish the responsible parties. The sounds of torture reportedly drew concern from neighbors while editor Steve Forn worked on the film, so much so that the police got called. The director, Kevin Greutert, discussed the incident in an interview with NME.

Greutert explained, (via Variety), “There was a knock at the door. We have the doorbell [camera] video of the police walking up, [Forn answering the door] and the police saying, ‘The neighbors [have been] calling and saying someone’s being tortured to death in here.’ And he was like, ‘Actually, I’m just working on a movie…You can come in and see it if you want?'” The scene in question that triggered all of this depicts, most simply, an “eye vacuum trap.”

The director wrapped up the story, “The cops started laughing! They said, ‘We want to but, you know, you’re all right.’ It must have been a pretty realistic performance! It’s a pretty funny story…Plus Steve is such a mild-mannered guy. I can only imagine the look on his face when he realized what was happening!”

Saw X is the latest installment of the Saw franchise. The film acts as a direct sequel to the first Saw film in 2004 and a prequel to Saw II (2005). The film hit theaters on September 29, 2023, less than a month after The Nun II.  Tickets are available now. As the film is a Lionsgate production, it will first come to the streaming platform Starz and then to Peacock; a date for this release is unconfirmed.
