A Sequel To 'Ready Or Not' Is In The Works With Samara Weaving Returning
Horror fans have had a lot to celebrate this month with the massive amount of news about horror films soon to release or ones that have been officially greenlit by studios. We now have even more good news as it was recently announced that a sequel for 2019’s Ready or Not is finally in the works! The dark horror comedy’s sequel will see star Samara Weaving return along with Radio Silence who were the creators of the first film.
The original film had a budget of only $6 million and grossed more than $28 million domestically. It was the widest release for Searchlight at the time, and the only surprise with news of a sequel is that it took so long for them to announce. The first followed a young bride played by Weaving who learns on her wedding day that she must play a game with her new family. She is to pull a card from a card game to decide what game the family will play together. She pulls the “hide and seek” card which leads to a murderous version of the game in which she is the prey and the rest of the family must attempt to find and murder her. The film co-starred Adam Brody and Andie McDowell. There is no word yet on further casting or a plot, but Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt are returning as producers, and Villerlla and Tara Farney will be acting as executive producers. Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy will also be returning to write the sequel.
You can stream Ready or Not on Hulu and Disney+.
