A New Trailer For The 'Doctor Who' Christmas Special Has Been Released
It’s that time of year again. The Doctor Who Christmas Special is drawing near, and we have a new trailer!
Information released by Moffat (writer) and co have already let slip that Ncuti Gatwa is off to a Time Hotel in the 41st century. The trailer gives us the first glimpse, including the lobby and hotel rooms. The latest assistant, Joy, is played by Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, but there’s no word on how long she will be sticking around. British actor Joel Fry (Game of Thrones, Yesterday, Cruella) was a welcome surprise, and he seems to have a significant role in the plot.
Russell T Davies showed off several locations in the Special, including a futuristic London and the Orient Express, so it appears the hotel will take the Doctor on a tour through time. The advertising uses the slogan, Joy to the World, but in some cases an ‘s’ has been added to make Joy to the Worlds. The end of the trailer makes it clear this is intentional. Whatever is happening in The Doctor Who Christmas Special is going to be galaxy-wide.

There are multiple Doctors. It does feel like they’ve only just used this plot device; fans will have to see how it feeds into the storyline. Russell T Davies did have this to say. "It's mad, it's one of the maddest Christmas specials you'll ever see. It's epic, it goes to so many different places. And it's a great story of who the Doctor is when he's alone.”
The Doctor Who Christmas Special will be available on BBC iPlayer and Disney Plus on Christmas Day.
