The PlayStation brand turns 30, and that means one thing: celebrating its history. Sony has released several themes for the PlayStation 5 based on the previous PlaySation consoles, the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Playstation 3, and the Playstation 4. This new feature, launched on December 3rd, is available only for a limited time, but it’s unknown how long it will last. Still, PlayStation fans will be able to relive the glory days of this long-running brand’s history and their own nostalgia as well. The brand has had its ups and downs, but it has certainly made enough history for well more than thirty years.

The PlayStation launched in 1994. Originally conceived as a two-in-one of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System with a CD add-on, problems with Nintendo resulted in the prototype being reworked extensively into a stand-alone home console. The PlayStation became the highest-selling console of its generation, only to be surpassed by its successor, the PlayStation 2. With them, Sony had beaten Nintendo at their own game and had dethroned them after several years as the top dog. Though Nintendo would bounce back, Sony remains one of their primary competitors in the console market.
