A 'Dogma' Sequel Is In The Works From Kevin Smith
During the Dogma Confessional panel at Vulture Festival, Kevin Smith confirmed he is working on a sequel to the film. Making for a nice 25th anniversary announcement. He also hopes that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will return, even if just for cameos. Smith is confident the two will reprise their roles as fallen angels Bartleby and Loki, especially after he helped them with the 1997 film Good Will Hunting and got no thanks at the speeches during the Oscars and Golden Globes.
“I have been able to hold that over both their heads for 25 f-ing years, which is why they keep showing up in all the movies,” Smith said. “Expect a cameo from them – more than a f-ing cameo. The only way we get a Dogma sequel made is if they’re there. So count on those guys being there.”

The fourth instalment of Smith’s View Askewniverse, Dogma tells the tale of two fallen angels travelling to New Jersey, searching for a loophole that will get them back to heaven. Many familiar faces were to be found in the film, such as Chris Rock, Alan Rickman, and Salma Hayek. Last month, it was confirmed distribution rights had been bought from Miramax, allowing Dogma a new theatrical and home release. At that time, Smith noted that such could potentially allow for new material to be created.
Of course, some would rather Dogma stayed as the classic it is, with nothing to ruin what made it special. As Smith noted during the Vulture Festival panel. “Some people will be like, ‘Don’t f-ing touch it. You’ll ruin it’ And I’m here to tell you: I will. I’m f-ing tickled. I found a way in.”
