5 Characters Christian Bale Could Play In 'Star Wars'

Christian Bale

Popular actor Christian Bale recently expressed his interest in being in Star Wars. While he did not have a particular preference in terms of character, he did say, perhaps jokingly, that, of all characters, he wanted to play a stormtrooper who hit his head like the unfortunate one from A New Hope. Having a major star like Bale portrays a nameless and faceless cameo in the galaxy far, far away is not unprecedented. Daniel Craig, the most recent actor to portray James Bond, had a cameo as a First Order stormtrooper who is tricked into freeing Rey in The Force Awakens. Are there any major fan-favorite characters from canon or even Legends that we have not seen yet in live-action that he might be suited for? He has played a wide spectrum of characters from Patrick Bateman in American Psycho and Trevor Reznik in The Machinist to Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Dark Knight Trilogy and Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. The possibilities are endless for such a versatile actor.

5. Darth Revan

Darth Revan is a popular Jedi-turned-Sith-turned-back-to-Jedi character from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video game. Many Star Wars fans are clamoring for somebody like fellow actor Keanu Reeves to portray Revan in a live-action project. There is no doubt that Christian Bale would be able to do the role justice too.

4. Darth Bane

Another popular Legends character who is now canon, we have only seen a spectral vision of him in The Clone Wars animated series. The founder of the modern Sith Order was noteworthy for his establishment of the “Rule of Two,” which governed the Sith Order all the way to the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine.

Bale could star as the cunning Sith Lord, perhaps fleshing out his origin story that we have not seen in canon. Plus, Bane is also the name of a Batman villain from The Dark Knight Rises, which coincidentally also starred Bale.

This fan-favorite Jedi in Luke Skywalker’s New Jedi Order from Legends was first introduced in the Star Wars: Dark Forces video game. It is unclear how he could be introduced in the current canon especially since his role in acquiring the Death Star plans is incompatible with what is portrayed in Rogue One. Perhaps he could appear in a post-The Rise of Skywalker story?

2. Dash Rendar

Dash Rendar first appeared in Legends’ Shadows of the Empire as a charming rogue Correllian smuggler in the same mold as Han Solo. Rendar aided the Rebels at the Battle of Hoth and helped Luke and Leia in the rescue of Han in the time between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. He also took on Prince Xizor, the leader of the Black Sun crime syndicate.

Bale definitely has the swagger and charisma to pull it off if they ever decide to bring Rendar into a live-action project.

1. Young Count Dooku

A younger version of Dooku from before he left the Jedi Order was recently featured in Tales of the Jedi animated series, now streaming on Disney Plus.

While there are probably no plans anytime soon to return to the prequel era in live-action form, Bale could possibly portray a middle-aged version of the infamous Jedi-turned-Sith from around that time period, perhaps shedding more light on his transition from a disillusioned Jedi to Sith Lord and Separatist leader.

Of course, Christian Bale’s versatility as an actor makes him perfect for any role in the galaxy far, far away, whether it is a stormtrooper, Rebel agent, Resistance pilot, Jedi, droid, or bounty hunter. What as-yet-to-be-introduced character would you like to see him as?
