Ranking The Best Shows From The Galaxy Far, Far Away
The Star Wars universe used to be quite small. It started out with one, then three movies. Eventually, it expanded into the prequel trilogy. There was also the Expanded Universe, which is no longer canon. In the past, fans only got to know a small portion of the large universe. Now, the universe fans are familiar with is quite vast, thanks to the many Star Wars shows we have gotten over the past few years. The shows have ranged from introducing new characters to the Star Wars universe, like Din Djarin in The Mandalorian, or expanding on classic characters like Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi. These shows have ranged in quality and story, and with Andor just having finished its first season, it is time to rank all the shows we have gotten so far.
8. Star Wars Rebels
Rebels take place right before A New Hope. In addition to introducing us to the Ghost crew, the show also brings back Ahsoka and Maul. It also brings a conclusive end to Maul’s storyline. Once you look past the somewhat wonky animation, it is a wonderful story of growth and sacrifice.
This raved-about Star Wars show with an extremely loyal fanbase is last on this list only because I have yet to finish the series (among the other shows on this list). Rebels fans, I am working on finishing it!

7. The Book Of Boba Fett
Even though Boba Fett had about six minutes of screen time in the original trilogy, he has become a fan favorite to this day. The Book of Boba Fett had some great moments, and I am so happy we got to see this character in his own show and learn more about this mysterious bounty hunter. I wish we got more of Boba Fett than we did, as it still felt like it wasn’t enough. It was also cool to see a live-action version of one of the coolest bounty hunters in the galaxy, Cad Bane.
6. The Bad Batch
I love that we got to see more of the Clone Force 99 after their brief introduction in The Clone Wars Season 7. These troopers were different from the others and therefore put in their own squad. They did things a little differently from other clones, and their unconventional methods would help them succeed in their missions. The introduction of Omega, the only female clone, was a great addition to the group and added another layer of mystery to the clones.
The Bad Batch Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on January 4, 2023
5. The Clone Wars
The best animated Star Wars show, in my opinion, also introduces one of the best Star Wars characters of all time—Ahsoka Tano. This show has seven seasons and many different stories ingrained within it. I loved that we got to see stories about others like Jedi, younglings, civilians, and even droids, who were around during the Clone Wars. The show also never shied away from the horrors of war. Oh, and my personal favorite? It re-introduced us to Darth Maul and made him one of the coolest villains in Star Wars.
4. Tales Of The Jedi
Even though this show only had seven short episodes, it expanded on Ahsoka’s origins and Dooku’s fall to the dark side. It was also nice to find out what happened to Jedi Master Yaddle as well. I hope we get something similar in the future.
3. Andor
The newest of the Star Wars shows is definitely an unexpected hit. Even though it is number third on this list, it has some of the best writing out of any of the shows. I love that we’re getting to know Cassian Andor, before his untimely death in Rogue One. It sometimes doesn’t feel like the Star Wars content we’re used to, and that’s okay. Its forte lies in depicting this time period through the eyes of an average citizen with no Force powers.
2. The Mandalorian
One of my all-time favorites that give us the cutest new additions to the Star Wars universe in Grogu. Din Djarin shows a different side of bounty hunting and has definitely grown throughout the two seasons of the show. I cannot wait to see where Din’s and Grogu’s journey goes in Season 3.
The Mandalorian Season 3 premieres March 1, 2023, on Disney+
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi
All the promotion materials for the show pointed to Luke, so it was a nice surprise when it instead featured Leia alongside Obi-Wan. I ranked this show as number 1 because I loved seeing Ewan McGregor’s return as Obi-Wan Kenobi. I loved his interactions with young Leia and even his final duel with Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader. It was wonderful seeing these two phenomenal actors reprise their roles.
I enjoyed the introduction of the Inquisitors in live-action, and Moses Ingram did a wonderful job as Reva. This has definitely been the most enjoyable of the Star Wars shows for me.
Star Wars keeps expanding its universe with the content it keeps producing. In the next few years, we will be getting even more shows, such as Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, and a new season of The Bad Batch. These will further expand the universe and the characters we already know. I know I cannot wait for the future of the galaxy far, far away and what it has to show.
