3. Ryan Coogler Will Direct Secret Wars
During San Diego Comic-Con this year, the lineup for Phases 5 and 6 was revealed. While Phase 6 is a few years away yet, the next two Avengers movies were announced for it, Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton has been confirmed for directing Avengers: Kang Dynasty. A new rumor has come out on who they have in the running to direct Avengers: Secret Wars.
Recently on The Weekly Planet Podcast, host James Clement revealed that director Ryan Coogler is being considered to direct Avengers: Secret Wars. Coogler has been pretty successful with his directing of Marvel movies. He first directed Black Panther, which was a huge success, and made over a billion dollars. He returned for the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will be released on November 11, 2022, in theaters. He also is involved in the new Disney+ show, Ironheart. He is also rumored to be a part of another MCU series that will be set in Wakanda.
It would make sense Marvel would consider someone like Ryan Coogler to direct Avengers: Secret Wars. He has an excellent track record when it comes to directing, and Marvel likes to keep things “all in the family” when it comes to their Avengers movies. This was seen with the Russo Brothers who did a great job with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they were asked to come back to direct Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. It also makes sense they asked Destin Daniel Cretton to direct Avengers: Kang Dynasty after his success with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Whoever Marvel decides to get to direct Avengers: Secret Wars will have a hard job. The film is expected to be the finale of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set to release on November 7, 2025.

2. New Star Wars Lego Sets Leak Online
According to a German LEGO site, information on some upcoming LEGO Star Wars sets has made its way to the surface, and an exciting new canon villain will see their LEGO debut. The new sets with information seem to be a Minifighter set based on Boba Fett’s ship, a 501st Clone Trooper Battlepack, and a new, updated version of the TIE Bomber. It’s the TIE Bomber set that raises the eyebrows, as supposedly it will include an Imperial officer alongside Vader, a TIE pilot, and a GONK droid. According to the German site, this officer will be none other than Rae Sloane.
If the name Rae Sloane is new to you, you need to start picking up the awesome new canon books. Especially the Aftermath trilogy by author Chuck Wendig. The trilogy traces the final days of the Empire as the New Republic takes hold of the galaxy and replaces the Empire as the new government. Like an animal in its death throes, the Empire does not go quietly, and the one to take the reins for the Empire is Grand Admiral Rae Sloane.
She helped keep the Empire together after the chaos following the loss at Endor. Presently, I am not aware of any characters from the books that have made it into the roster of LEGO Minifigures. Rae Sloane’s introduction could possibly be the first. Other sets rumored to be coming include new helmets, one of which include Clone Troopers Captain Rex and Commander Cody. The sets above are slated to debut in January, with the helmet sets and others yet to be revealed coming throughout 2023.

1. The Marvels Trailer Leaks Online After D23
Marvel Studios continue to go apace with many Marvel projects for Phase 4 and beyond. The latest of these is The Marvels. Not much is known about this movie. Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau will be coming together for some sort of intergalactic cosmic event. Set to come out in 2023, this story has been set up for a while now going through several series from Wandavision and beyond. In this trailer leak, we do see four seconds of footage of The Marvels with all three characters together. What is the context, we don’t know. It was shown during the Marvel D23 Panel, and while it was not shown in public, it was able to get out.
The Marvels is just one of many projects on the docket for the MCU as things continue to progress. Hopefully will find out a lot more about The Marvels and the rest of the MCU as time moves forward.
