Top 5 D23 Rumors And Leaks
Whether it be Star Wars, Marvel, DC, video games, or film, we scour the internet every week to find the biggest leaks and rumors to bring to you. Although leaks and rumors should not be taken as fact until proven to be so, read on to see what everyone is buzzing about leading up to this year’s D23.
5. Secret Invasion May Not Be A Secret Much Longer
During San Diego Comic-Con this year, a short teaser for the new Disney+ show, Secret Invasion was shown. The trailer was not released to the public however and was only shown to the lucky few in Hall H. According to DanielRPK on Twitter, it is rumored that a Secret Invasion trailer will be shown at D23 this weekend.
Secret Invasion stars Samuel L Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury. From the teaser show at San Diego Comic-Con, we see Nick Fury meeting up with Cobie Smulders' character, Maria Hill. She asks why he has been avoiding Earth, and why he has all of a sudden decided to come back. In the series, Fury returns to Earth to deal with the Skrulls that have been invading Earth for years. Ben Mendelsohn reprises his role of Skrull, Talos, who was first seen in Captain Marvel. Talos and Fury team up to stop the Skrull invasion. In another shot, Fury sits down with Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes. Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rege- Jean Page, and Christopher McDonald will also star in the series. Emilia Clarke will also star, and she is rumored to be playing the role of a Skrull named, G’iah. Martin Freeman will also make an appearance as Everett K Ross from Black Panther.
Not much else is known about this miniseries that will be released on Disney+. From the teaser, we have a basic premise, but hopefully, if a trailer is shown at D23 this weekend, it will be longer, and we can finally see more of the show that will be released next Spring. Hopefully, it sheds some light too on what mysterious character Emilia Clarke is playing. If a trailer is shown, let’s hope it is released for everyone, so that we can all be excited about this new series.
Secret Invasion is set to release on Disney+ in Spring 2023.

4. Will We Get Our First Look At Indiana Jones 5?
D23 is this weekend, the premier Disney convention of the year, and a recent poster
released, or teased, by the Mouse has the rumor mill spinning in anticipation. The poster is full of little images of the many different Disney franchises, and there has been an absolute plethora of breakdown videos about each one, and they all seem to coincide with an anticipated update of the particular franchise.
It’s in the layout of Cinderella’s Castle, and if you look just to the right of the Big Mouse himself, under a small yellow portcullis, we see a familiar fedora-clad archeologist clinging to a rope.
Its well-known Indiana Jones 5, the final in the franchise for John Williams and reportedly Harrison Ford as well, is on its way, due out next summer. What is not known yet is a title or stills. There’s also been no trailer yet. All of that is possible at D23. The smart money is on the title and the first still photos. Disney’s reputation lately is to wait extremely long to release trailers, so it’s doubtful that they would release one now, in September, when the film isn’t released until (for now) June next year.
The good news is we’ll find out soon.

3. Lion King Prequel Poised For Announcement
Disney has been consistently remaking their animated classics into live-action marvels over the last few years and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Lion King (2019) was highly anticipated, though released to mixed reviews. Since then, it has gained more favor amongst audiences, currently sitting at an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and is poised to have a prequel. If the rumors are to be believed, the House of Mouse will be giving fans their first look at D23.
Disney made the announcement on their Twitter page on Dec. 10, 2020, that a prequel is in development with Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams, and Nicholas Britell writing the music and Barry Jenkins in the director's chair instead of Jon Favreau. The film will be centered around Mufasa’s rise to power and the rift that was driven between him and Scar. Deadline reported that Mufasa will be played by Aaron Pierre and Scar will be played by Kelvin Harrison Jr. No other casting has yet to be reported, but some character names have been leaked: Adah, Horatio, Elijah, Celia, Kaliban, Cardi, and Zola.
Filming was expected to be finished in May 2022, so it should be in its post-production phase. A full cast and release date reveal is rumored to be held during the Disney live-action panel. While Star Wars and Marvel are always headliners, if these rumors are true Disney will have even more to excite fans.

2. Mandalorian Footage Leaks Ahead Of D23
With D23 so close by it is possible we might see some cool reveals, trailers, and new announcements coming from Star Wars. One of these is hopefully some updates about their flagship shows The Mandalorian. Set to come in 2023, it still hasn’t necessarily released a full trailer to the public yet. However, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from going strong. Bespin Bulletin has managed to get some footage from the set of The Mandalorian. While not filming we see Bo Katan played by Katee Sackoff and her fellow Mandalorians doing something. What that something is, we don’t know by the video. However, it probably will be actioned packed hopefully, although again it is unclear at the moment.
We might get up-to-date news about the Mandalorian and more during the upcoming D23 celebration. Although it is hard to say just what might be released at the time. Perhaps will see the trailer from Star Wars Celebration, polished and ready to go to the public. Or perhaps an announcement for something new. Again it’s all hard to say, but this clip means they are working on the Mandalorian and that it will be hitting our small screen in the near future.

1. Giancarlo Esposito Hears The Writer Of ‘Far Cry 5’ Will Be Working on A Star Wars Game
During a panel at Fan Expo, Canada Giancarlo Esposito revealed some interesting tidbits about a new Star Wars game. Navid Khavari out of Montreal who wrote Far Cry 5 has been moved to a Swedish group working on a new Star Wars game. This game is more than likely Massive Entertainment's untitled Star Wars project. First announced in 2021, the game is supposed to be an open-world game of some sort developed by Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games. Little else is currently known about the game, but with D23 coming up this weekend and a panel focusing on video games for Disney IP we might learn more in the days ahead.
For now, fans will have to wait, but it seems very interesting that Giancarlo seemed to have some exclusive information about someone he had already worked with on a game and even went so far as to say, "I plan on calling him." Now that is no guarantee that Moff Gideon will appear in the game, but given that Lucasfilm has been very determined to explore 5 years after Return Of The Jedi it isn't crazy to assume that the game would be set during this period. So maybe fans will see Moff Gideon in an upcoming Star Wars game after all.
