A new Star Wars series always brings new theories and Ahsoka is no exception. A mysterious masked character named Marrok appeared in the series premiere and later on in episode 3. The character is a former Inquisitor who now serves as a mercenary. Now, he serves as a mercenary working with the former Jedi Knight Baylan and his apprentice Shin Hati. In the first episode, Marrok dueled Ahsoka in an attempt to prevent her from chasing a transport. He appeared again in the latest episode teaming up with Shin Hati in an attempt to take down Ahsoka’s ship.

Naturally, the character’s mask proved to be fruitful ground for theories. Some claim the character is actually Ezra, as the show creators wouldn’t go so far as to hide the identity of an unknown face. In the credits of the third episode, Paul Durnell is listed as playing Marrow, which puts the Ezra theory in doubt as Eman Esfandi is already credited for the live-action portrayal of the missing Jedi. Others claim Marrow is really Starkiller from The Force Unleashed video game. One wild theory is that the enigmatic Marrok is really Jedi Survivor protagonist Cal Kestis.

The Ezra theory seems the most likely since the character is pivotal to Ahsoka and Sabine’s current adventure. The strongest clue that points to Ezra is the space whales called purrgil. The creatures appeared while Ahsoka and Sabine were being chased by Marrow. When the two heroes catch their breath, Sabine remarks that she hasn’t seen purrgil since the last time she saw Ezra. Whoever the character is, more information is sure to be revealed in the series eight-episode run. Star Wars fans can stream new episodes of Ahsoka every Tuesday night on Disney+.
