Was Daredevil Snapped By Thanos? Marvel May Have Just Spoiled The Answer
Was the protector of Hell’s Kitchen a victim of Thanos’ infamous snap in Avengers: Infinity War and the five-year blip that followed? A long-standing and popular fan theory has suggested that Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, was snapped and that his absence allowed Kingpin Wilson Fisk to escape prison and rise back to power. Sounds good, right? Without Daredevil in his way, Fisk could finagle his way back to the top of the food chain without any real resistance. However, the recent Disney+ release of Echo has debunked this theory while confirming that the events from Daredevil’s time on Netflix are canon.
Echo is set in May of 2025, after the events of Hawkeye, and features flashbacks, which include her run-in with Daredevil and later altercation with Clint Barton. When she squares off with Daredevil in episode 1, she is still a member of the Tracksuit Mafia. It is noteworthy that this event takes place before she goes after Barton. Hawkeye adopted the name Ronin after the blip to cope with the injustice of his losses. The timeline for when Echo fights Daredevil is between 2018 and 2025, indicating that he was active during the blip, therefore debunking the popular theory that Kingpin rose back to power in Murdock’s absence.
Marvel has laid the groundwork to continue weaving the characters and storyline from Netflix’s Daredevil into Daredevil: Born Again seamlessly, with Echo as a bridge between the two. Echo is currently available to stream all five episodes on Disney+!
