The much-anticipated sequel to Shudder’s 2021 film, V/H/S/94, and the fifth installment in the horror anthology franchise has finally received a trailer. Game shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple, skateboarding, dial-up internet, and Backstreet Boys’ Larger Than Life are surrounded by scenes of terror in the new trailer. The film guarantees audiences a haunting and terror-filled walk down memory lane. The film’s official synopsis reads,
“A thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations. Featuring five new stories from filmmakers Maggie Levin (Into The Dark: My Valentine), Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City), Flying Lotus (Kuso), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls) and Joseph & Vanessa Winter (Deadstream), V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analog days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium”.
Also announced at NYCC was the sixth installment of the V/H/S franchise titled V/H/S/85. The film is expected to be released next year on Shudder. The general manager of Shudder, Craig Engler, said that the overall premise of the franchise is to act as a showcase “for both established and emerging horror filmmakers to terrify audiences with innovative takes on the found footage genre.”
V/H/S/99 will be available to stream on Shudder starting October 20.
