Though first mentioned back on December 10th, 2020 on Disney’s Investors Day (Page 74 in PDF linked in sources), excitement for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the character Ironheart played by Dominque Thorne is amping up again as the release date for the new film draws near.

Thanks to Devan Coggan from Entertainment Weekly, we witness an exclusive interview at New York Comic-Con with several of the main cast members excitably anticipating the audience’s reception to the world-building storyline of Wakanda Forever. Coggan asks the cast “What’s the most important thing in telling Wakanda Forever?”

“Of course, honoring our brother, and our leader and our king. That was definitely at the forefront of our minds and our spirits and our hearts. And also the fact that yes, there was this amazing impact that the first Black Panther had. So the need was to really solidify in the sense that these characters and this world it has an arc. It wasn’t a one-time moment, momentous thing.” Okoye actress, Danai Gurira replied.

Coggan also reports that the Ironheart actress Dominique Thorne is giving her all in learning Riri Williams's most basic skills like welding and soldering in addition to learning the art of breath-holding to film Wakanda Forever’s underwater scenes.

Though not much information is known about the live-action adaptation take on Riri Williams, besides the upcoming conflict with Namor, much more information about Ironheart’s character can be found in several comics including her debut in the series The Invincible Iron Man (2016) Ironheart Vol. 1 as a student genius who rightfully earned Tony Stark’s attention and approval alongside every student’s dream; free grant money, the opportunity to grow, and an AI program of Tony himself to mentor her as she comes into her hero-hood legacy. Though the Tony Stark of that comic has a much different fate than Tony in Marvel’s End Game, any kind of Tony would have undoubtedly left plenty of pieces behind for future generations to learn from. Further development of her character is shown through being pitted against two famously named villainous groups in her own comic series Ironheart Vol. 1: Those with Courage and Ironheart Vol 2: Ten Rings. With the information read up on in Ironheart Vol. 2, it could serve as further excitement in witnessing the friendship between Riri and the incredible Wakandan princess, Shuri unfold in live-action.
