Toys ‘R’ Us Is Set To Make A Massive Return For This Holiday Season

Toys “R” Us, the iconic toy store remembered fondly by many, will be returning in a new form just in time for holiday shopping this year. The store filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017 and unfortunately had to close all its stores. However, it will soon be making its comeback as a “store-within-a-store” in every Macy’s in the United States.

After declaring bankruptcy, the company was unable to find a buyer, and had no choice but to shutter and liquidate all 700+ of its retail locations. The last two closed down in the beginning of 2021 after the pandemic dealt a blow to in-store shopping.

These new stores within Macy’s will range from 1,000 to 10,000 square feet, depending on the size and location of the parent retailer. They will feature hands-on tables where customers can watch demonstrations or interact with toys and games on their own. The beloved Geoffrey the Giraffe will also make an appearance, sitting on a bench for a family photo opportunity.

These stores are scheduled to appear in Macy’s starting this month and rolling through October.
