Josh Scherr Leaves Naughty dog After Twenty-One Years Writing And Animating For The Studio
This past week writer and narrative designer Josh Scherr announced that he was going to leave the studio Naughty Dog, where he worked for the last 21 years. Scherr, who won an award as one of the writers of the fourth installment of the Uncharted franchise (Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End) in the 2017 Writer’s Guild of America Awards, was also part of the team that developed other games in the Uncharted series, along with The Last of Us 2 and Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. In total, Scherr was involved in 10 games over that period.
The announcement came on Friday afternoon on a 3-part thread on Twitter, where Scherr thanked the studio for the years he worked there, as well as his colleagues during the period they were together on such projects. He said that he was “so grateful for your inspiration, your support, & your trust” and that “Y'all are what made those 21 years memorable. We had fun (heart emoji)”.

Scherr also wrote that it was “time for something new”, but what that was he didn’t clarify. His profile description on Twitter was changed to “future: ???”, not hinting at what is yet to come for his promising career in the gaming industry. Naughty Dog’s account didn’t comment on the tweet, but the way Scherr left the company seems they were on good terms. Supporting messages were also left on his thread, wishing him the best and showing him how his work at Naughty Dog was appreciated by fans and gaming journalists.
