Tony Gilroy Explains How Season 2 Of 'Andor' Will Be Different Than What Fans Have Seen So Far
With only one more episode left in the first season of Star War’s breakout hit series Andor, fans are already clamoring for information about the second and final season. Showrunner Tony Gilroy revealed that the series will take the audience on some surprising turns.
Gilroy revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that the timeline of Season 2 will be vastly different from Andor’s first season. Thus far, the story’s twelve episodes have taken place over the course of one year. The second season will take place over the course of four. This reflects the original plan to stretch Andor over five seasons, which he described as “physically impossible.” While the first season takes time to flesh out small details of protagonist Cassian Andor’s beginnings as a revolutionary, Season 2 will see his rise as a leader.

Gilroy further teased how the next season will bring surprising betrayals as the story jumps a year in time:
“And really, the second half is about what does time do to these people? People grow up, and people get tired, and people betray each other, and people change their minds, and people get weak, and people get crazy.”
He also addressed fan queries about the apparent lack of aliens in the overline storyline of Andor. Introducing alien species “adds a level of political complexity” to the story, and Gilroy assured fans that “we will be going there.”
Though the Season 1 finale promises to be an unforgettable television event, fans can rest assured that Andor’s second season will deliver a story as epic as the first.
Andor is available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
