Tom Wyner, 'Digimon Adventure' Voice Actor, Passes Away At 77
Tom Wyner, voice actor best known for Omnimon and Devimon in the Digimon franchise, passed away on June 30th at 77.
Born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom on June 16th, 1947, Wyner had a career that spanned nearly 50 years. His breakout role was in 1985’s Robotech as Jonathan Wolfe. Wyner would go on to work extensively with Saban Entertainment, providing many voices for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers such as Mighty Minotaur, Bones, Knasty Knight, Commander Crayfish, and Frankenstein Monster. He also wrote “Green with Evil Part III: The Rescue” and “Calamity Kimberly. Wyner also voiced Plague Sentry in Masked Rider, Fighterbot, Kongbot, Metaborg, Hammerbot, Crabor, Metalbot, Cranoid, and Skullbot in VR Troopers, and Graxxis and Mean Green Cannon Machine in Big Bad Beetleborgs.
The actor was also rather prolific in anime. Aside from his Digimon roles, Wyner also appeared in Lupin the Third Part II and the film Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, M. Bison in the Animaze dub of Street Fighter II V, the Puppet Master in the 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie, Rengie in Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Quent Yaiden in Wolf's Rain, and roles in Robot Carnival. Behind the scenes, he was also an ADR Director and scriptwriter.

Later in life, Wyner transitioned toward narrating audiobooks. His agency, Mobile Monicker, announced his passing on X on July 11th.
"Tom was absolutely enthralled by the opportunity to meet his fans, sharing his own passions and inspiring them to chase after their dreams," Mobile Monicker said. "He poured his heart and soul into every encounter, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. His beautiful and kindred spirit will forever hold a special place in our hearts."
Those who worked with Wyner paid their respects, including Wendee Lee, known for Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop.
He will be missed by fans and colleagues alike.
