T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh Will Return As Tanya Baxter For 'Raven's Home' In The Season Five Finale
Mama’s coming home. Admittedly the story has been out for a bit, but it somehow slipped under everyone’s radar. After seventeen years, T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh will return to the role of Tanya Baxter, Raven Baxter’s mother, on the Disney Channel series Raven’s Home, the sequel to That’s So Raven, which originally ran from 2003 to 2007.
Keymáh was one of the original cast members of That’s So Raven. She departed the show in Season 3 to take care of her ailing grandmother. Her final episode (the season’s twenty-ninth) “Food or Thought” aired back in 2005. The show’s fourth season explained that Tanya had gone to England for law school.

That’s So Raven spinoff Cory in the House, which aired from 2007- 2008, centered on Raven’s father Victor and brother Cory living in Washington, D.C. Keymáh did not make any guest appearances during that series as she was still caring for her grandmother. The in-universe explanation was that she was still studying in England.
The show’s second spinoff Raven’s Home would premiere in 2017 and Victor (played by Rondel Sheridan) would make his first appearance in the second season without Tanya. Its fifth season follows Raven and her son Booker leaving Chicago and returning to her childhood home in San Francisco to take care of her father after he suffers a heart attack. Tanya’s absence is especially conspicuous at this point. As it turns out, she has been in working in England as a lawyer but makes an unannounced visit in the fifth season finale to celebrate her husband’s 60th birthday. This birthday was all the more significant by his surviving such a health scare. This showed that Tanya was still around for important moments in their family.
The fifth season of Raven’s Home premiered in March 2022, and has aired sixteen episodes so far. There is no telling how many episodes will be in season 5. The series’ hundredth episode will feature the return of Anneliese van der Pol as Chelsea Grayson. The season finale and Tanya Baxter’s appearance should be happening within the year.
