The TARDIS Lands On Disney+, Marking The New Home For 'Doctor Who'
Doctor Who’s 60th-anniversary specials are set to premiere on Disney+ globally (except in the United Kingdom and Ireland where it will be broadcast on the BBC) starting on November 25th. David Tennant returns as the Fourteenth Doctor and is reunited with Donna Temple-Noble (played by Catherine Tate) as they face off against their most terrifying villain yet, The Toymaker (played by newcomer to the series Neil Patrick Harris). Other new characters include Meep (played by Miriam Margolyes), Rose Temple-Noble (played by Yasmin Finney), and Shirley Anne Bingham (played by Ruth Madely). Returning characters include Sylvia Noble (played by Jacqueline King), Shaun Temple (played by Karl Collins), and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (played by Jemma Redgrave).
The first special, titled “The Star Beast,” will premiere on November 25th. Following it will be “Wild Blue Yonder” on December 2nd, and “The Giggle” on December 9th. Disney+ is set to be the new home for the long-running science fiction series going forward, but the premiere date for the next series is unknown at this time. It will, however, feature our first Doctor played by a person of color, Ncuti Gatwa. Russell T. Davies also returns to write the specials and lead as the showrunner of the series.
