The Stars Of The Cult Classic Show, 'Freaks And Geeks,' Reunite For 'Dungeons And Dragons' Ad
John Francis Daley has enlisted his former Freaks and Geeks co-stars Samm Levine and Martin Starr in a new meta ad for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) movie. Daley, who co-directed and co-wrote Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with Jonathan Goldstein and Michael Gilio appears in the ad with Levine and Starr at a familiar dining table. The trio spent much of the short-lived fan-favorite 1999 NBC series playing the tabletop role-playing game.
In the ad, the group references Carlos the Dwarf, a character created in the television series by James Franco’s Daniel. Daley concedes that they should wrap up the game, as they’ve been playing for 23 years. When he suggests that D&D should be made into a movie, Levine and Starr deride him. Levine dismisses the idea, saying, “That would never work." Daley agrees, “That's truly the stupidest idea in the world.” The scene then cuts to the title screen for the upcoming film.
