The Final Destination series is one of the most unique in all of horror. Instead of a slasher like Freddy or Michael, or some supernatural entity picking the characters off one by one, it’s Death itself. The Rube Goldberg nature of the death scenes are the main draw of the series, keeping the audience engaged, wondering how the characters will die or, less likely, survive. It’s been thirteen years since the release of the last film, and fans have been wondering ever since when we’ll get the next one, especially since the fifth is considered the best in the series (after the original).

Now we have some answers. The producer of the sixth film, tentatively titled Final Destination: Bloodlines, has revealed some information about the new film:

RELATED:

“After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing."

Now, obviously a lot can happen in a year (just ask the Snow White remake), but so far it looks like everything is on track. We don’t have anything more than the title and vague release date. Whatever happens, it has a lot to live up to after the shocking ending of the fifth installment. Still, after thirteen long years, we’re finally getting more concrete information of the long teased sixth film. It will be interesting to see how Death’s design is thwarted, and the steps it takes to correct it.
