'The Righteous Gemstones' Writing Team Tapped To Bring 'Booster Gold' To Life

While fans eagerly await James Gunn’s interpretation of the son of Krypton, other exciting projects within the Gunn/DC Universe are taking shape. Notably, Danny McBride, John Carcieri, and Jeff Fradley have been enlisted as writers for the highly anticipated Booster Gold series for Max.

As of recently, the trio wrote the series The Righteous Gemstones and Vice Principals. The team also took on the 2018 Michael Myers reboot Halloween. Of note, Booster Gold will be McBride’s fourth outing in the writer’s chair for a television series, but his first attempt with the realm of superhero series.

Announcing slated projects for his upcoming universe, Gunn said of the character and story, “He is a fascinating guy. He’s a loser from the future who uses future technology to come back to present day and become a superhero so that people will love him. It is basically the superhero story of imposter syndrome on an HBO Max series.”

There is also potential for McBride to write in Xolo Mariduena’s Jamie Reyes/Blue Beetle, as the two characters were known to join forces in the comics. Mariduena confirmed he would return as Reyes.

Booster Gold does not have a release date.
