All eight episodes of Bridgerton season three are now on Netflix, but fans are not happy with showrunner Jess Brownell. This is Brownell’s first season after taking over from Chris Van Dusen who oversaw ‘Daphmon’ and ‘Kathony’.

Fans are claiming that Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton had less time on screen than previous couples. Sparked by the discontent, rumors started to fly around social media that there were four more spicy ‘Polin’ scenes. These were supposedly viewed in the original screening and cut from the version released on Netflix.

An online petition to return the content quickly grew to over 67,000 signatures, and more and more TikToks and Instagram posts were made on the subject as it went viral. This week, Producer Tom Verica has gone onto social media to deny the existence of the scenes as has star Nicola Coughlan.

Only time will tell if fans are convinced by the denial, but it’s hoped that ‘Polin’ will return in season four. The next series is not expected for a full two years, so Brownell might have hopes that everything will have calmed down by then.

But that’s not the only controversy rocking the Bridgerton boat. Jess Brownell was given a great setup for the first LGBTQ lead storyline by Chris Van Dusen who had prepped several queer-coded characters. Brownell looks as if she will not be going with those and has instead inserted a gender-swapped love interest that involves completely stepping away from the plot written by novelist Julia Quinn. Season four is going to be wild.
