The OG 'Star Wars' FPS Is Getting Remastered
One of the most well-known Star Wars video game protagonists is coming back into the spotlight. Kyle Katarn will be introduced to a new generation of fans soon when the game Dark Forces is remastered and brought back to PC, as well as all other modern platforms.
Dark Forces was a first-person shooter first released in 1995 and drew many sequels also featuring Katarn, who in the later titles became a Jedi. Katarn was then popular enough to become a recurring character in many books. The remastering will include an increase to 60 FPS as well as upgrading it to 4K.

"What we really try to do is bring back the way you felt when you played the original. That's our mission. Our mantra is always about preservation. And you don't preserve things by changing them," said Larry Kuperman on behalf of Nightdive. "I think the audience will appreciate the degree of challenge," he stated about the difficult missions and boss fights within the game.
The game is speculated to be going for $20-$30 as it was described as being "popularly priced." The story is part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, now known as Legends, as it was released before Disney purchased the franchise.
