In the morning hours just before the start of September, fans of the Zelda video game saga were greeted with new places to explore with the release of a new trailer. In this new trailer, a “mysterious purple infection” is infecting the world of Hyrule while sucking up the land and its people to a place called the Still World. This includes Link. With previous The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom trailers, the titular Zelda has now been gifted a sword she can use.

Diving deep into the “topsy turvy” world that is the Still World, the world is frozen in place with platforms flipped over or on their sides; a perfect puzzle for the Hyrule princess to decipher. As players experienced before, the echoes of the Still World allow Zelda to summon objects and NPCs from her staff to fight her enemies and solve the puzzles the Still World throws at her.

Fans watching the newly released trailer show Zelda being saved from the “purple infection” with the king pushing her away from the purple ooze only to succumb to it and what appears to be a soldier and an aide to the king. The player, as Zelda, now must “borrow the power from an ethereal creature” to save the king of Hyrule within the “rifts” of the Still World. With the risk of Zelda’s petrified kingdom disappearing, Zelda (and the player) must use her strengths, Echoes, and smarts to traverse the Still World and change the fate of Hyrule.

According to Willa Rowe, “To reflect the varied environments of Hyrule, the Still World is full of different biomes, and it makes both realms seem brimming with wonderful variety.” Further allowing The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom its own identity, Zelda has a new sword-fighting form and pushes the boundaries of summoning objects to fight bosses within the Still World’s dungeons and puzzle games. It can be certain that The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will contain easter eggs from previous Zelda titles such as Link’s Awakening and Zelda II. No matter what, the latest Zelda game promises its fans plenty of excitement.
