As something new is released, it seems as though it is often knocked back or cancelled just as quickly. Such is the case for the Google Stadia. While the Google Stadia might not have been the most successful game streaming service after its initial release, it cannot be said that the Stadia did not provide a small bit of history: Google managed to release its one and only game. On January 18, the service will officially shut down. The final Stadia game is Worm Game, an internally developed title used to test Stadia, which will be free to play.

On the Google Stadia’s Twitter page, the soon-to-be former game streaming service shows its followers the design of the game and provides a link to play it. The game contains similarities to the classic game Snake.

Although it seems a very simple and to-the-point game, Stadia developers worked hard on the project. As a result, they were able to “provide its community one final treat.” While it’s not the most groundbreaking technological development, the Worm Game serves to “preserve a small part of history” for a dedicated fan base. Across their Twitter page, fans are expressing their condolences and well wishes for the company for the foreseeable future. Within that future is the controller being made “more useful” to players and the technology living on in other products as “white-label products”.

Google has confirmed that within the next week, the controller will start allowing players to unlock the Bluetooth functionally of its Stadia controller, making it easier to connect to more devices. While the exact working details are still unknown, information will be available "on release." If players do not wish to take advantage of the Bluetooth feature, they are welcome to return their controllers to the Google Store for refunds. Though it wasn’t the longest-standing company for streaming content, Google Stadia will continue its legacy.
