The 'Halloween' Franchise Is Getting Its Own Game, And Director John Carpenter Is Involved
First Jason, then Leatherface, and now it appears that another horror icon is getting his turn to hack and slash in a game.
Two new games from Boss Team Games based on the iconic and hugely important slasher franchise, Halloween are in development, one in the Unreal Engine 5. The best part is, the one in Unreal Engine 5 is getting the involvement of John Carpenter, the original film's director. I don’t have to explain how much of a boost that will give the game he’s working on. According to Carpenter himself:
"As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly.”
This is, hopefully, a huge win. It’s no secret that after the classic original, the Halloween films became a bit… hit or miss, with the misses being extreme. Nobody knows Michael the way John Carpenter does, so having him working on the game should push it over the top. The Jason and Leatherface games were met with mostly positive reviews, so hopefully these games can at least reach that.
No real details about either game have been revealed yet, nor has a release date been announced. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when Michael returns home.
