This will be a must-see for the diehard horror genre fan. All others may want to check this one out in the middle of a Sunday afternoon with the lights on. Few horror tropes compare to ones that include children. Why is that? The short answer is in all their cuteness and innocence they can do some very creepy things without provocation, so it is not a huge leap for filmmakers to play with that and come up with twisted storylines.

The trailer starts with a seemingly normal activity – two couples take a trip to a cabin located in the woods. One of the couples has two children. Margaret (Alisha Wainwright) and her husband Ben (Zach Gilford) along with Ellie (Amanda Crew) and Thomas (Carlos Santos) with Lucy (Briella Guiza) and Spencer (David Mattle).

The group goes on a hike in the woods and that is step one to the turn. They find a secluded area that gives off the typical viewer reaction of GO THE OTHER WAY. It would be a very short movie, however, if they did that. Step two would be their choice to enter the dark, creepy, isolated tunnel to explore. Something about it garners fascination from Thomas and Ellie’s son, Spencer.

The next day the adults wake up to find that the kids are gone. They head out and find them. Ben notices upon locating them that there is something different about them. Between their new fascination with disappearing and jumping into holes combined with maniacal laughter and bleeding noses, slowly Margaret, Ellie, and Thomas see that Ben is right – there is definitely something wrong with the children!

There’s Something Wrong with the Children is a Paramount Movies, Blumhouse Television, and MGM+ collaboration, directed by Roxanne Benjamin and written by T. J. Cimfel and David White. The film will be available on digital and on demand on January 17, 2022.
