The First Teaser For 'Dune: Prophecy' Has Been Released

Dune: Prophecy

The first teaser trailer for Dune: Prophecy has just been released. The HBO limited series will feature Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, Camilla Beeput as Reverend Mother Dorotea, Sarah Lam as Hagel Truthsayer, and Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen. Set in the Dune universe, the show will focus on the origins of the Bene Gesserit 10,000 years before Muad’dib’s ascension. It is based on the Sisterhood of Dune series by Bryan Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

The 1-minute and 10-second clip offers a glimpse into the political nature of the Sisterhood, depicting Bene Gesserit's struggle to rise to power and control events behind the scenes. The trailer showcases the importance of shaping the flow of power by first learning how to "exert power" in the Bene Gesserit Order. By contrast, Fimmel’s character, Desmond Hart, hints that he is aware that the Bene Gesserit are the puppeteers behind the scenes.

The teaser shows some possible flashback scenes hinting at her early years and training, then moves forward to the present. One shot in particular shows a moment when Valya may be using “the Voice” mind manipulation. The clip ends with her affirming that “sacrifices must be made.”
