Storyboards From The Canceled 'Gambit' Movie Have Surfaced
These days, it's easy to overlook the fact that DC Studios does not hold a monopoly on cancelations. Disney does have an equal share in this department. Some of them pre-date the MCU films. Both media franchises have their reasons regarding their decisions. It does not take away the sting of the deprivation fans feel at the thought of what might have been.
Adding to the longing are behind-the-scenes video clips and, in the case of the unmade Gambit film, old storyboards. The disappointment the studio's bigger plans caused is warranted. The halting of production is unfortunate. It's no secret and the third storyboard frame confirms that the Gambit film will have featured Channing Tatum as Remy Etienne LeBeau. This would have been a perfect vehicle for the actor simply because he was invested in the character and, in his own words, "I loved that character. It was just too sad. It was like losing a friend because I was so ready to play him."

Now, fans can only fill in the blanks with these images as guides. Assuming the film would have been his origin story, the frames suggest LeBeau is at a crossroads emotionally and psychologically. The first storyboard shows him sitting on his pick-up's cargo bed contemplating maybe, "why is this Bourbon bottle?" this a fair assumption as the second storyboard clearly shows he's been chasing the dragon.
Now with inhibitions lost and either anger, fear, exhilaration, or what have you triggering his id, he charges the aforementioned bottle and hurls it disintegrating parts of a forest. No doubt, Channing Tatum would have had a blast filming the scene.
It's just too bad all we have are a mental image of how the live-action sequence would have unfolded onscreen and a pun. Then again, Kevin Feige and company may already have plans laid out for Gambit’s intro.
