Star Wars fans are set to get more unique visual delights with a second round of Visions. The animated anthology series will return on Star Wars Day, May the 4th, bringing the works of nine animation studios from across the world together.

Unlike the first volume, which focused exclusively on Japanese animation, this second promises to showcase a wider variety of countries, with each studio bringing a unique animation style to their short. That’s not to say that Japan is missing out on this second round, as D’art Shtajio represent the country in a collaboration with Lucasfilm.

With the announcement post, executive producer of Star Wars: Visions James Waugh said, “We always saw Star Wars: Visions as a framework for celebratory expressions of the franchise from some of the best creators working today. Animation is in a global renaissance, and we’re constantly staggered by the amount of creativity pushing the medium forward. With Volume 1, the imaginative minds of Japan’s anime industry were on full display. With Volume 2, we expanded our canvas to take audiences on a global tour of some of the most talented creators from around the world.”

Each studio chosen will bring its unique style of writing and visuals to the short that they create. The titles of those shorts and the studio that created them have been revealed.

  • Sith | El Guiri (Spain)

  • Screecher’s Reach | Cartoon Saloon (Ireland)

  • In the Stars | Punkrobot (Chile)

  • I Am Your Mother | Aardman (United Kingdom)

  • Journey to the Dark Head | Studio Mir (South Korea)

  • The Spy Dancer | Studio La Cachette (France)

  • The Bandits of Golak | 88 Pictures (India)

  • The Pit | D’art Shtajio (Japan)

  • Aau’s Song | Triggerfish (South Africa)

These shorts are all likely to explore areas of the Star Wars universe few have been to across all eras, with those that do venture into known lore bringing a unique twist on it. Such was the way of Volume 1. That first volume of Star Wars: Visions can be seen on Disney+, with the second volume arriving on May 4.
