Ahsoka is an upcoming limited series as the titular character investigates a threat to the galaxy. As with many Star Wars and Disney properties, the details for the show are being kept pretty tightly under wraps, so the little that does come out can give fans insight. According to OttoNemenz.com, the cinematographers have been named; Eric Steelberg and Quyen Tran are joining the team.

A cinematographer is also known as the director of photography. They are in charge of the overall camera and lighting for a production, essentially directing the how the story is shown to the audience. Their influence on the visuals of a film or piece of media can make or break the storytelling.

Eric Steelberg has worked with Disney before as a cinematographer for several Hawkeye (2021) episodes.  He has worked on many other impressive projects, including Juno (2007), Up in the Air (2009), and Ghost Busters: Afterlife (2021). With Steelberg’s experience, the use of colors and weather as symbolism could be very prevalent in his episodes of Ahsoka.

Quyen Tran has many successful projects under her belt, most recently several episodes of Apple’s Roar (2022). Other well-known productions under her direction are Pali Road (2015), Palm Springs (2020), several episodes of Here and Now (2018), and several episodes of Maid (2021).  Fantastic use of angles and shot lengths are likely to be noticeable in her episodes. This will be Tran’s first Disney+ piece.

Ahsoka will stream exclusively on Disney+. The show doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet; however, the lead implied it could be around the end of 2023. More details will come as that time approaches.
