'Spider-Man 2' Sold 5 Million Copies In Just 11 Days
Sony shared previously that Spider-Man 2 sold over 2.5 million copies in just over 24 hours, placing the popular video game ahead of God of War Ragnarock by Santa Monica Studio on the 24-hour charts. This sales milestone is impressive, but PlayStation Studios surpassed this by selling 5 million copies in just 11 days! Insomniac, the developer behind the game, posted to X the news with hashtags #SpiderMan2PS5 and #BeGreaterTogether, “Woo! We're incredibly honoured to announce Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5 has sold over five million copies! Thank you to our incredible community for supporting us and helping us reach this milestone!”
IGN reviewed the successful game, stating, “As a sequel in a spectacular series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is both blessed and cursed... Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights. The part that feels like it actually needed a radical rethinking is the open world of New York City, which has been made bigger but not better, with an exhausting checklist of mostly repetitious side activities.”

Where might the series go next? The sky is the limit as a Wolverine game is currently in the works that shares the world with Spider-Man 2. A Venom spinoff could be in the realm of possibility as well. Other suggestions have included bringing in Daredevil or Doctor Strange. With the success of Spider-Man 2, a third installment in the franchise is almost a given.
