'Spider-Man 2' Becomes The Fastest Selling Playstation Game Of All Time

Spider-Man, Spider-Man. Does whatever a spider can…including, becoming the fastest-selling video game on the Playstation console. The second installment of the web-slinging teen hero’s game has reportedly sold more than 2.5 million physical and digital copies in its first 24 hours, according to Sony Interactive’s blog post. Not a bad milestone for Peter Parker fans and gameplayers.
The Spider-Man game, developed by PlayStation-owned Insomniac Games, has also seen another victory with its “rave reviews” since its release on Friday for the PS5.

Spider-Man 2’s gameplay is roughly 40 hours. This includes side content and is a typical length for video games, according to BBC. As of late, the main criticism is that the flag on the webbed hero’s house was confused with that of Cuba, when the video game was praised for its representation of Puerto Rican culture. Luckily, it’s a mistake that developers will be quick to fix. Players will be back to deciding whether to play Peter Parker-era Spider-Man or Miles Morales-era Spider-Man.

While the second Spider-Man video game did not reach the same level of sales as Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which sold more than 10 million copies in just three days, there is still the opportunity for the game to obtain equivalent sales numbers, or to become a game in a league of its own. With most sales coming from digital downloads, Spider-Man 2’s release is unique from other best-selling games of the past. New markets for a new generation, but a character many would want to play and emulate on the PlayStation 5.
