Silent Games Reveals New Sci-Fi Action RPG 'Empyreal'
In a bit of a surprise reveal, RPG fans have a new game to look forward to next year.
Silent Games, game developer and publisher Secret Mode, just announced a new game they’ve been working on for the last few years, and it’s due out next year. The game is titled Empyreal and will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. It’s open for wishlists on Steam now.
There’s not much revealed about the story aside from what was released by the developer, which reads, “In a far-flung corner of the galaxy, an expedition arrives on an unexplored planet, discovering a colossal monolith built by a lost civilisation. As the Expedition team begins to investigate, it soon becomes apparent that this enigmatic and imposing structure is no mere ruin.”

Watching the trailer, it’s hard not to see parallels between current games and even games that have fallen by the wayside. There are clear acknowledgments of No Man’s Sky in the architecture, minus the ship-based exploration and space travel. There are also some similarities to Outriders, Darksiders, Destiny, and even the semi-bust of the game Kingdoms of Amalur. There seems to be a mix of traditional armor and melee weapons that are infused with modern technology and LED lights, but also really big projectile weapons.
It’s a beautiful-looking game with crisp particle effects and massive, varied environments. Then again, this is a trailer, and like is common in the video game industry, games don’t always match up with their reveal trailers.
There is no word yet on a release day other than it will be in 2025 sometime.
