Maggie Stiefvater's Novel 'Shiver' To Be Adapted For Screen With Maddie Ziegler And Levi Miller Starring
The movie adaption of Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver has taken a giant step forward. The popular YA fantasy novel spent forty weeks on the New York Bestseller list, selling over 1.7 million copies in the US. The book centers around a girl who falls in love with a yellow-eyed wolf who saved her life when she was a child. But there’s more to the wolf than meets the eye.
Claire McCarthy (Domina, The Colour Room) has signed on to direct for Simple House Films, a new production company. She has replaced Andy Fickman (Heathers the Musical), but the project is believed to be on course for a Vancouver shoot.
But what everyone is waiting for is the cast announcement. Well, we have that too.
Australian actor Levi Miller (Pan, Kraven the Hunter) will be playing Sam, the wolfy-poet male lead. Maddie Ziegler (Dance Moms, Westside Story) is in the role of Grace. The benefit of casting these emerging talents is the hope that they will sign on for additional movies should Shiver be a hit at the box office. Shiver is the first of the four-book Wolves of Mercy Falls series, so there is franchise potential. Fans of Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey have been itching for a new romance saga, and this might be the ticket.
