Showtime Executive Excited For 'Gattaca' Reboot, Led By Howard Gordon And Alex Gansa

A reboot of Gattaca is being produced by Homeland duo Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. Together with Craig Borten, they will be developing an adaptation of the 1997 dystopian movie for Showtime.
Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman starred in the 1997 movie, which was set in a not-too-distant future where eugenics has become the norm as humanity strives for a perfect future. The new boss overseeing Showtime, Chris McCarthy, is said to be a big fan of the movie. He holds hope that this reboot has franchise potential.

McCarthy is big into making franchises out of series, with multiple offshoots of Dexter and Billions in production. Several already-produced dramas have been scrapped on the belief that they didn’t fit in with the new programming strategy. The Gattaca reboot is the first drama being produced from the start under this new strategy, so it’s likely that ideas for offshoots are already being explored.
The Gattaca reboot is sure to be an instant hit under Gordon and Gansa. Homeland won several Primetime Emmys with its first season, including Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series. Across its run of 2011-2020, it has continued to see many nominations and wins.
