“It’s been a long five years…”

The highly anticipated story trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been released and it is chock-full of references, plot details, and High Republic Easter eggs. Cal Kestis immediately establishes that it has been five years since the events of Jedi: Fallen Order as he takes us to new locations such as the new planet of Koboh and fan favorites like Coruscant. There is a glimpse at a location that resembles Cloud City reminiscent of The Empire Strikes Back.

After seeing a Lucrehulk-class battleship in the previous gameplay video, it is no surprise to see the bounty hunters on Koboh using Separatists droids and High Republic-style lightsabers with a crossguard resembling Kylo Ren’s lightsaber

The trailer also features the return of the Mantis crew with Merrin, Cere, and Greez rocking new hairstyles. In addition to the familiar sights, the audience will get a longer look at the new characters. There is a glimpse of Bode, Cal Kestis’s new companion. A mysterious Force user confronts Cal with a question, “How could you let the galaxy fall to this unworthy machine of an empire?” He appears to be a once-prominent member of the Jedi Order who may pass some knowledge to Cal one way or another. His angry words are in contrast to Merrin’s earlier warning to Cal to not let the fire within him consume everything. There is also a shot of the main antagonist Rayvis in his full armor, looking very much like a giant purple angry cousin of Thanos.

Cal Kestis and his companions will continue to search for a place to hide from the Empire that they can call home. Hopefully, he will find this inner peace as he travels through the galaxy.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases on April 28th, 2023 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
