As always the news for Star Wars movies is a rollercoaster of emotions, as one director is in and another is out according to Deadline. Free Guy director Shawn Levy will get his chance at the iconic franchise after he’s finished with the highly anticipated team-up movie Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

This news comes after the interview with J.D. Dillard where he stated his project with Lucasfilm will no longer happen. Yet again fans have been teased with a great director in Shawn Levy, but the truth is that until this project goes into further development, fans will speculate if the movie will ever actually see the big screen.

Fans are in for a long wait for this one, as Levy is busy with one of Marvel Studios more ambitious projects. The good news is the next Deadpool instalment should be starting its production within the next 12 months, so hopefully Levy will be able to finish that and go straight into his Star Wars project.

While Levy’s career is skyrocketing right now with nothing to stop him, will this be another film that excites the fandom just to let them down in six months? Levy is a great director, but considering Lucasfilm’s struggles to move forward with any of their big screen projects, is hiring a director as busy as Levy truly the way to get the ball rolling? All these questions remain to be seen, but in the meantime fans should be happy with the choice as Levy is a great director.
