SEGA Set To Release 'Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings'
This certainly seems like the Year of Shadow! A new animated short, titled Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings has been announced as a tie-in to the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations video game, a remaster of the 2011 title Sonic Generations with a new Shadow-centric campaign. Not much is known about the short yet, but several key people have been revealed to be involved with its production. Ian Flynn is reportedly writing the short with Alan Wan, Kevin Molina-Ortiz, and Christopher Luc of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame will be involved in the animation.
Stephanie Sheh (known for Usagi in the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon among other roles) has also been revealed to be the voice of Maria Robotnik. A panel covering all things Shadow, called “A New Era of Shadow,” will take place at Anime Expo on July 6th at 3:30pm PDT, and those in attendance will get a sneak peek at the animation. The current voice of Shadow, Kirk Thornton, will be at the panel along with Takashi Iizuka and Sheh, Molina Ortiz, Wan, and Luc. It will be hosted by voice actor Xeno Robinson (known for Hawks in My Hero Academia). No release date has been revealed for the short, but Sonic x Shadow Generations is set to speed onto store shelves in the fall of this year.
