Scott Marder, showrunner and executive producer of Rick and Morty, talked about season 9 of the show and beyond. “I can’t tease a lot. I can tell you we’re in the middle of writing season nine,” he said. “I can tell you that we’ve already got a couple ideas for Season 10 that are already kind of pinned. There is a full plan for a full 10-season saga.” He added, “So if people are on board with what we’ve been doing the past couple seasons, we’re intending to give them more of that. But there are certainly arcs and cool things and big surprises in store.”

Rick and Morty underwent many changes before season 7. Co-creator of the show, Justin Roiland, left due to allegations of domestic abuse. He had also been the voice actor behind both Rick and Morty. Harry Belden now voices Morty while Ian Cardoni voices Rick. The charges were dropped against Roiland after investigators failed to find sufficient evidence.

The show started in 2013 and is shown on Adult Swim. It tells the story of Rick Sanchez, a genius sociopath, who takes his grandson, Morty Smith, on crazy adventures. The season 7 finale airs on December 17th.
