Empire Magazine Debuts Exclusive 'Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes' Covers And Material This Week
Caesar, the chimpanzee who ruled an ape civilization after a drug against Alzheimer's gave the animals the ability to speak and to rise against their human tormentors, may be dead, but the Planet of the Apes franchise is not.
On May 24, 2024, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be released in cinemas, and the February issue of Empire Magazine features an interview with director Wes Ball, writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, as well as the film's stars Owen Teague and Kevin Durand.
Additionally, the issue will feature storyboards, images, and behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot, which took place in the autumn of 2022 in Australia.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth feature in the series of reimaginations of Pierre Boulle's novel from 1963, following Planet of the Apes: Prevolution (2011), Planet of the Apes: Revolution (2014) and Planet of the Apes: Survival (2017). The new film takes place centuries after the end of Survival, which saw the apes arriving at their new home after fierce battles against a human militia that led to Caesar's end.

The villainous Proximus Caesar (played by Durand) is the new leader of the ape kingdom, and the heroic chimpanzee Noa will rise to oppose him.
Like its predecessors, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will rely heavily on performance-capture technology, and the magazine will also delve into the progress this technology has made since 2017.
Aside from Durand and Teague, the cast includes Freya Allan (The Witcher), Peter Macon, and William H. Macy.
If the movie is successful at the box office, Disney and 20th Century Studios hope to make the film the starting point for a new trilogy.
The February 2024 issue of Empire magazine will hit newsstands on December 21 and can be pre-ordered online.
