Prime Video 'Warhammer' Project Clears Deal Hurdle And Moves Forward
After some uncertainty in recent months, Games Worship revealed on December 10th that they had finally come to an agreement with Amazon Studios to move forward with the Warhammer franchise on the screen. Warhammer is a unique franchise with several related settings whose universe began with tabletop model-based games of strategy and has since evolved into a universe with multiple books, comics, many, MANY more models, and many games off the tabletop. The main franchise of interest to Amazon and the attached star power of Henry Cavill, though, is Warhammer 40K.
A grimdark sci-fi setting, Warhammer 40k has recently expanded in popularity due to high-profile video game releases like Darktide (though that has had some issues regarding content) and the much more well-received Space Marine 2. More recently released and selling extremely well, the game has received two content drops in a relatively short period with more to come and features a gripping and rich story that has undoubtedly well-acquainted many newcomers with the 40K setting.

Talks between Amazon and Games Workshop began a year ago, and the long-awaited conclusion of this deal for the production of multiple stories set within the 40K universe has excited many in the hours following its announcement. Many fans have begun to speculate what stories will be told first, with Project One (as the Warhammer Community post calls the first planned story) set to be kept a secret for now.
CultureSlate will keep an eye on the developments with this story and look forward to hearing more about the grimdark future coming to the small screen, hopefully sooner rather than later.
