Pixar's 'Elemental Crosses The 300 Million Dollar Mark Over The Weekend Ahead Of 'The Flash'
Disney Pixar’s new film Elemental has officially surpassed DC’s The Flash, and it did it without Tom Cruise or Stephen King singing its praise. All jokes aside though Pixar’s latest animated film has now passed $300 million at the box office to hush all doubters who counted the film out. The film was released alongside “the fastest man alive” on June 16th, yet The Flash wasn’t fast enough to win this race as it struggles its way over $100 million while its opponent becomes among the top 10 highest-grossing films of the year passing both The Flash and Creed III.
What’s interesting about this milestone is the fact that the film has mounted a monumental comeback after a lackluster opening weekend that hampered expectations. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film opened with a record worst for Pixar with only $29 million. Since then it has managed to turn the tides substantially and almost matched its opening weekend numbers on its fifth weekend, as Collider states the film finished this last weekend earning another $28 million with only a 13% drop.

Animation continues to surprise at the box office and for the sake of the genre, hopefully, the trend continues as Elemental finishes out its run at the theaters.
