Everything seems to be getting adapted these days, and the technology available makes it easier than it could have been some time ago. Included in that list of adaptations is the best-selling game franchise Halo, which saw its first season air in March of 2022. Paramount, which streams the show, recently released a new trailer and release date for the second season.

At first glance, it looks to be even more action-packed than the first season, which had a slow start and was met with middling reviews. It suffered from a pair of storylines that don’t seem to mesh well, and a rabid fan base that had high expectations (many of which were based on personal assumptions of what it should be). That said, it still had a relatively good ending that left the audience in limbo waiting for the next season.

With a new showrunner in David Wiener, who worked on Brave New World, and new cast member Joseph Morgan, who will play a UNSC intelligence officer,James Ackerson, the rest of the cast from season one is returning. Pablo Schreiber returns as Master Chief John 117, along with Natascha McElhone as Doctor Halsey and presumably Cortana, though she’s missing from the trailer. Natasha Culzac makes a return appearance as well, alongside Bokeem Woodbine as Soren and Danny Spani as Captain Keyes. Noticeably absent from the trailer were Kwan Ha, Vanek, and John’s first new convert to emotion for a Spartan, Kai. Miranda Keyes was also absent from the trailer.

What does make an appearance in the trailer is a heck of a lot more action than the first season. There are loads of Elites with energy blades. We also get glimpses of what looks to be the great catalyst for what looks like the downfall of humanity, the Fall of Reach. There’s plenty of room for the series to grow, and the trailer makes that look hopeful.

Nearly two years after the premiere of the first season, season two will be coming.
