Dungeons & Dragons fans woke up to some exciting news this morning. In addition to a Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie releasing later this year, Paramount+ revealed an upcoming eight-episode live-action series based on the popular game. Rawson Marshall Thurber, the filmmaker responsible for Red Notice, wrote the pilot and is set to direct the new series. Multiple buyers were interested in the project, but Paramount+ won the rights to the project.

The entertainment companies behind the 2023 Dungeons & Dragons film, eOne and Paramount Pictures will team up under the direction of Gabriel Marano to produce the new series. It’s unknown if the live-action series will be a follow-up to the film or an original story. However, according to Deadline, the series is shaping up to be the studio’s largest TV project. Some fans speculate a massive multiverse of Dungeons & Dragons will stem from the upcoming film and series. No release date is known at this time, but with the new movie and series and a live-action Warhammer coming to Prime Video, fans of the tabletop games will love to see their worlds expanded on the big and small screens. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves comes to theaters on March 31.
