Fans of the cult classic television show Workaholics are disappointed that the upcoming film adaptation of the television show will no longer be produced. Since the first announcement to extend the Workaholics franchise was announced in February 2021, fans and co-creator Adam Devine were unprepared for the news. Devine wrote on his Instagram page, “Paramount+ decided to cancel the Workaholics movie…. We were supposed to begin filming in 5 weeks! …. We are deeply butt hurt about this decision because we were so excited to bring the weird one last time.”

Considering the proximity of when Devine was given the news and when the filming process was about to begin, emotions are most likely at an all-time high for the Workaholics family. No longer being able to work on a familiar project and the show’s start finding new work, Devine also stated his dismay in trying to find other streaming platforms wanting to take on the Workaholics film.

Devine stated he and his collaborators were told their upcoming project was “axed” because it “no longer fit into Paramount+’s new “global” strategy.” However, the decision is rumored to have stemmed from scheduling issues for the streamer after multiple production delays. With the pandemic causing a delay in many films and television show projects, Workaholics was no exception. Despite the movie’s cancellation, all seven seasons of the Comedy Central show are available to stream on Paramount+ and Hulu.
