'Overwatch 2' Launches On Steam To Wave Of Negative Reviews
Last Thursday Overwatch 2 was released on Steam making it Blizzard’s first game to be released on the platform. While the game opened up to a strong player count of 75,000, which placed it amongst the top 15 on the games played list for that day. On top of that, although the game is free to play there are bundles you can get at different price points, which placed the game on Steam’s top seller list. Though the numbers were positive, it seems the experience did not deliver in the slightest.
Blizzard’s debut on Steam was met with a bombardment of negative reviews the following Friday. According to the numbers on Steam, of the 130,000 reviews only nine percent of them are positive, with a shocking amount of overwhelmingly negative reviews.

The reason for so many negative reviews appears to be a list of complaints that users have had with the game before its release on Steam. According to Polygon, these complaints are based on “its free-to-play monetization tactics, game balance, a lack of promised PvE content, and a toxic player base.”
As of today Overwatch 2 has a rating of 2/10 with over 130,000 reviews on the platform. Questions remain on if Blizzard will actually listen and make the appropriate changes to make for a better experience, but either way, this is surely not the Steam debut the developer could have expected.
