Official Trailer Drops For 'Gran Turismo' Adaptation, Starring David Harbour And Archie Madekwe
The popular video game Gran Turismo is coming to the big screen this August, and the first trailer dropped online. The film is based upon the true story of a teenager obsessed with the racing video game who is given the opportunity to become a professional race car driver. The film stars Archie Madekwe as the young gamer with the chance of a lifetime alongside David Harbour, his racing trainer. Harbour is slated to appear in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film The Thunderbolts. Djimon Hounsou plays Madekwe’s father in the film. Gran Turismo is directed by Neil Blomkamp, whose other works include District 9 and Elysium.
The game Gran Turismo was created in 1997 with a focus on realistic environments for gamers to simulate driving a high-speed vehicle on a track. Even the cars the players were able to choose were licensed vehicles. The game was released on the Playstation, twice on the PlayStation 2, twice more on the PlayStation 3, twice on the PlayStation 4, and once on the notoriously difficult to locate in any brick and mortar, the PlayStation 5.
