New Trailer Released For 'The Rings Of Power'
It is finally here. A full length trailer for Amazon’s The Rings of Power series. And it delivers quite a punch. Woven within are beautiful landscapes and cities. It introduces many of the major characters of the series that we have heard about so far. And it also has some rather haunting words spoken by Galadriel, Elrond, and one of the Harfoots to name a few.
In the trailer, we see what is presumably Numenor, possibly the city of Andúnië which is where Elendil is from. Then there is a very Cate Blanchett close up shot of Galadriel’s eyes but they are of course Morfydd Clark’s. After that comes the shot of an elf, (some fans speculate it is Finrod) looking out at a city which is the first image that we ever got of the series.

We then see a series of images of elves and an elven city (some fans are speculating it is Lindon), and then our first glimpse at the Dwarven city of Moria in all its glory. We see what appears to be the places where the humans dwell and where the Harfoots live.
It seems peaceful enough. Until what looks like a meteor crashes into the landscape. Elrond and Galadriel then seem to be having an intense conversation on a snowy mountaintop. Elrond seems insistent that Galadriel hasn’t seen the dark things that he has seen, but Galadriel fights back with: “You have not seen what I have seen” and we see a rather disturbing image of a fiery maelstrom with bodies floating in it. Is it air? Is it water? Is it the destruction of Numenor or perhaps a previous battle? Remember, the series cannot show anything that happened in The Silmarillion unless it is talked about in the Appendices of The Lord of the Rings, but we could still somehow be seeing something that happened with Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, ruled?
Then we see more Numenorean ships and Numenorean cities and peoples and we meet Gil-Galad. We see orcs marching on a bridge. There seems to be an arrival of The Stranger which happens in fire and does not seem to bode well. We then meet Prince Durin. And we briefly see Halbrand, Arondir, Harfoots Nori and Poppy, and Isildur all in various locations. We also see Elendil.
There are a series of other quick images from horseman, elves in armor, and Arondir fighting what appears to be a warg, along with a snow troll attacking Galadriel. The trailer ends with the image of the Hand of The Stranger in fire, which briefly turns into a lidless eye. Perhaps showing that The Stranger is actually Sauron? If so, that could be quite the reveal. The last shot is of a group of Harfoots led by Sadoc Burrows walking.
The trailer certainly gives us much more information than we have gotten so far and shows fans a little more about what to expect. It is underlaid with Howard Shore’s music, and definitely has the feel of Peter Jackson’s Middle Earth. The Rings of Power releases on Amazon Prime on September 2, 2022.
